Well I don't know the reasons as I haven't analysed the sites in much detail. From some of the basic information that I've looked at, I'd say that Seek has a much stronger brand in the "real" world. This is strikingly true when looking at how many people search for the word "seek" on major search engines in comparison. But of course, the term "seek" is fairly generic so that can be misleading. I think viral marketing would have played a significant role for Seek's success. Looking at backlinks, domain age among other factors, all the big rivals are very similar.

Regarding maintainability, I think it's quite possible for Seek to maintain its dominant position. I can't say much more beyond that.

Interesting post, I never would have expected Seek.com.au to have so much more traffic above its competitors.

What do you think are some of the reasons for this? Do you think that the position is maintainable?
